Augustinus Sanctus, St Augustine of Hippo, the greatest theologian of the Roman Catholic Church. He was baptized by St Ambrose himself. Augustine became a priest in 391 and Bishop of Hippo in 395.
He is the patron saint of theologians and printers.
In fine art he is often depicted in company of a child or angel with a shell; from 15th century with transfixed or burning heart.
