- история:
- This cartoon by Andy Davey from The Sun is a comment on the victory of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Russia's presidential election on Sunday.
- Putin is depicted as a karate black belt smashing an election ballot box labelled 'Russian Democracy' with an iron-gloved fist.
The metaphor should be clear enough: Putin's win, which was tainted by allegations of widespread electoral fraud, has delivered a serious blow to democracy in Russia.
- Someone who rules or controls something with an iron fist is in absolute control and tolerates no dissent.
- Putin is a martial arts aficianado and really does have a black belt in karate.
